Sometimes you may want to move or trim your selected clip in the Final Cut Pro timeline with a keyboard combination. Here’s info on how to it.
Select your clip in the timeline and with the keyboard press option+arrow to move clip one frame forward or backwards. You can also press the comma , or period . key to move the selected clip forward or backwards, respectively.
Hold the shift key along with any of the mentioned hotkeys to move or trim the clip 5 frames.
You can also trim the edit point of a clip one frame at a time with a hotkey by selecting the edit point in the Timeline and pressing the right bracket ] or left bracket [ key.
There’s additional hotkeys available for moving clips in the Timeline. If you select a clip and start pressing numbers then a Move window appears. Pressing the numbers and hitting Return will Move the clip the amount of frames entered in the Move window.
You should note that if another clip is on the same track and within the limits of the duration you want to move the selected clip then the Move will be unable to be performed because of a track collision. For instance: in the image below, the selected clip will be unable to Move 1 second because it will collide with the clip in front of it.

You can fix this by placing the clip to a track that will not collide with other clips on that track when you move it as seen in the image below.

You can also roll an edit point by selecting the edit point in the Timeline and pressing numbers which will reveal the Roll window. By pressing numbers and hitting Return you will roll the edit point the amount of frames entered in the Roll window.

If you enter a negative value it will move the clip or roll the edit point backwards the amount of frames you’ve entered in the window.
