Apple Reveals Future Plans Of Final Cut Pro X

Apple met with trainer Larry Jordan this morning and shared some upcoming plans for Final Cut Pro X in 2012. The following features are expected sometime this year:

  • Multichannel Audio Editing Tools
  • Dual Viewers
  • MXF Plug-in Support
  • RED camera support

Some of the details were confirmations from Apple regarding features that have been released in the most recent version 10.0.4. Specifically that broadcast monitoring has significantly improved in this current version, so Apple removed the term “beta” from the feature.

Those were the only features officially announced by Apple, but Apple indicated that those wouldn’t be the only new features coming this year. Apple did not provide any information regarding any new upcoming hardware that may be released.

The NAB Show is an annual trade show produced by the National Association of Broadcasters. It takes place in April at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Apple was at NAB last year to introduce Final Cut Pro X and it appears they have at least some presence at the show this year as well. The NAB runs through April 19th.
